As many of us are jetting off to catch the last of the summer sun, here is a friendly reminder  from the Valley Beat Team about securing your property.

Heading out to enjoy the sunshine? Don’t let burglars take advantage while you're away! Here are some top tips to keep your home safe this summer:

🔒 Lock up – Always lock doors and windows, even if you're just in the garden.
💡 Light it up – Use timer switches or motion-sensor lights to make your home look occupied.
📹 Install CCTV – Visible cameras can deter intruders and help identify them.
🚪 Secure sheds & garages – Don’t give burglars access to tools they can use to break in.
🧱 Use gravel paths – They make it harder for burglars to approach silently.
📱 Stay alert – Join or follow your local neighbourhood watch group.
